Rowing Canada announced that Jacob Wassermann had officially qualified for the Paralympics.
Wassermann had recently won silver at the Continental Qualification Regatta in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and the rowing team earned a country quota spot Wednesday, which officially secured Wassermann’s spot.
He took up rowing following the 2018 crash that killed 16 and injured 13, including Wassermann who was paralyzed from the navel down.
There are three different categories for rowing in the Paralympics — PR1, PR2, and PR3. Wassermann will be competing in PR1.
