Two people are displaced and one cat is reported missing after a two-alarm housefire in the southwest community of Woodbine.

At approximately 9 p.m. on Wednesday night, the Calgary Fire Department responded to reports of a house fire in the 100 block of Woodfield Close S.W.

Two residents were able to evacuate the home before the fire department arrived.

Officials say crews faced significant smoke and flames from the rear side of a two-story single-family home. Firefighters extended hand lines to control the fire and protect neighbouring houses, and set up an aerial ladder to “assist in defensive operations by providing an elevated master stream.”
