No injuries were being reported as emergency crews responded to a house fire in Bedford on Monday.

Halifax fire’s David Meldrum told CityNews the fire on Utopia Lane was called in just before 3 p.m. He says the rear of a townhouse assembly was on fire.

“Unfortunately, there is heavy fire damage to two of four units in the assembly and water, smoke, and firefighting activity related damage in two more units,” said Meldrum. “Therefore, we anticipate four families will be displaced at least overnight.”

Gary Martin Drive was closed for a period of time from late afternoon into the evening.
