The Scotiabank Centre crowd was electric as the puck dropped on the game, but the Titan would strike first.  Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia’s Dylan Andrews beat Moosehead goalie Mathis Rousseau at the 8:40 mark of the opening frame.  Former Moosehead Bobby Orr and Igor Mbruanumwe with assists on the opening goal of the playoffs.

Both sides traded chances through the first period and well into the second until Braeden McPhee tied the game for the Moose, redirecting a shot from Jack Martin in the last minute of period 2. Lou Levesque also assisted with the Moosehead’s goal.

Rousseau was sharp in the first half of the 3rd, making a number of big saves to keep the game knotted at one.  It was Titan keeper Antoine Keller’s turn in the second half, stopping several Moosehead attempts, and the siren would sound to end regulation time with the score tied at 1.

Many of the 8,100 fans stayed in their seats as the puck dropped on the extra period, but they would leave disappointed just 2:57 into overtime when Milo Roelens beat Rousseau, ending the game.

The Moose managed just 27 shots in the contest, while the Titan hit the net 37 times.

The first star of the game honours went to Titan goalie Antoine Keller, who made 26 saves in the win.  The second star went to Moosehead’s netminder Mathis Rouseau who stopped 35 of 37 shots.  The third star was Milo Roelens, who potted the winner.

Game two of the best-of-seven series with the Titan goes Saturday night at Scotiabank Centre.  You will be able to catch all of the action live from the ice on CityNews 95.7, beginning with the Mr. Lube pregame at 6:30.  The puck drops at 7.
