The Toronto Blue Jays head on a six-game road trip that starts on the West Coast in Oakland, with Toronto slated to enter the Oakland Coliseum for presumably the last time before the A’s move from their home following the 2024 season. Next season, the A’s will be moving to Sacramento and then to Las Vegas in a few years.

After an up-and-down week, the Blue Jays currently have a two-game winning streak under their belts as the club stole two games against the Baltimore Orioles to even up the four-game series. The Jays will also be without Cavan Biggio, as the club designated the utility player for assignment prior to tonight’s game and brought in Spencer Horwitz, who will be on the bench tonight. The club is sending eight right-handed bats up to the plate tonight with a southpaw on the mound, as Daulton Varsho will also start the day on the bench.

The Jays will be sending Chris Bassitt to the mound tonight, a right-hander who spent six seasons in the Bay Area. He owns a 3.44 ERA through 100 outings with the A’s, dating from 2014 to 2021. This season, the versatile arm owns a 4.13 ERA through 65 1/3 innings and is looking to find some consistency on the mound as well as some control, with Bassitt tied for first in the AL with six hit-by-pitch batters.

The A’s will be sending left-hander Hogan Harris to the mound in return, with this being the 27-year-olds fourth outing of the season. He made two starts in the bullpen before moving to the rotation given the A’s injuries and he went 5 2/3 innings against the Rays on May 30th, allowing just four hits and one earned run while striking out seven in his first round through the rotation.

The two sides will meet again in early August when the A’s make the trek up North to the Rogers Centre for a three-game set.
