Edmonton police are looking for a vehicle believed to be linked to a hit-and-run on Whyte Avenue Monday morning.

EPS says around 8:12 a.m. on March 18, officers responded to a collision involving a pedestrian.

Reports indicate that a woman and her daughter were walking southbound across Whyte Avenue at 97 Street in a marked crosswalk, when the mother was hit by an orange SUV.

It’s believed the woman moved her child out of the way before being hit.

Police say the SUV did not remain at the scene, and knocked over a stop sign while driving away.

Paramedics treated the woman at the scene, before taking her to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Her daughter, a six-year-old girl, was not injured.

The SUV has been described as a 2011 or 2012 orange Dodge Journey. Investigators note it will likely have extensive front-end damage, including a missing fog light and front quarter panel and a broken grill.

If anyone has any information regarding this collision, contact investigators at 780-423-4567 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
