There, officers found 387 grams of cocaine, 746 grams of methamphetamine, $1,015 in cash and a loaded handgun.

The drugs had an estimated combined value of $80,000, ALERT said.

The seized firearm was previously reported stolen, the law enforcement agency said, and the gun will be tested to determine if it was used in other crimes.

“Any time you have drug trafficking taking place in a smaller community, the subsequent issues related to addiction, violence, and property crimes are going to be amplified,” said Sgt. Matt Pumphrey of Cochrane RCMP. “Working together with ALERT, we were able to address the issue in a timely manner and keep our community safe.”

Kenneth Funk, 60, faces 10 criminal charges related to drugs and firearms. He was released from custody and is set to appear in court on March 18.

Anyone suspecting drug or gang activity in their neighbourhood is asked to contact local police or to leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or with the P3 Tips mobile app.
