Calgary police are asking the public for help in identifying a man believed to be responsible for assaulting a woman at a southeast park earlier this week.

At approximately 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, a woman was walking her dog in the north end of Sue Higgins Park. Her dog was allegedly attacked by a dog belonging to an unknown man. Following this, an argument ensued, according to a news release issued Friday.

Police say it is believed the woman attempted to record the interaction before the man knocked the phone out of her hand and pushed her to the ground.

The release states that the woman screamed and the man threw her phone over a fence before taking off in an unknown direction.

She received medical attention and reported the incident to police the next day.

Police describe the suspect as having a light complexion, approximately 50 years old, approximately 5’8’’ to 6’ tall, with a slim build and short black and grey hair. He was last seen wearing sunglasses, a baseball cap, brown khaki pants and grey runners.

Police do not have a photo of the suspect but are releasing a photo of the suspect’s dog in hopes of identifying the man.
