York Regional Police laid multiple charges as part of Operation Beehave, an annual project aimed at combatting robbery, mischief and unruly behaviour in Vaughan.

Launched for the third year in a row, officers learned in early May that male youths robbed a 14-year-old boy of his fanny pack bag and shoes in a plaza parking lot. A 16-year-old and a 17-year-old have since been charged with robbery.

On June 15, police were called to the same location for a report of a 14-year-old boy, wearing a balaclava, who had robbed someone of their shoes.

Police say a suspect was located at a nearby plaza wearing the victim’s running shoes and while searching the youth, officers located a small knife in his pocket.

The 14-year-old has been charged with assault, robbery, disguise with intent and possession of stolen property.

Police officers have been specifically deployed to investigate disruptive or threatening behaviour in the Jane St.-Norwood Ave. area and surrounding plazas and parking lots.

Police urge people to report suspicious incidents by calling 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7445.
