Get your towel out, the Stanley Cup playoffs are finally coming back to Vancouver.

For the first time in four years the Canucks are going to play in the post-season.

It was obvious for months they would make the post-season, but Saturday their spot in the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs was secured.
For the first time since 2015 the Canucks will host playoff games at Rogers Arena; the Canucks last played in the playoffs in 2020, when they made the second round of the playoffs proper, losing to the Vegas Golden Knights in seven games.
The Canucks could have made this happen earlier this week by beating either the Los Angeles Kings or the Dallas Stars, but they were so close the two teams that were between them and an official spot had no room for error.
And that’s what happened Saturday, as both the St. Louis Blues and Minnesota Wild ran out of runway to catch the Canucks.

Both teams could still qualify for the playoffs — it’s a long shot in both cases — but neither of them can now catch the Canucks after the Blues lost in regulation to the San Jose Sharks of all teams and the Wild lost in overtime to the Vegas Golden Knights.
The Canucks’ focus will now turn to finishing first in the Pacific Division — the Edmonton Oilers remain on a tear and are four games back with a game in hand — and also first place in the Western Conference. The Stars are first, three points up on Vancouver although the Canucks have a game in hand. Colorado is two points up on the Canucks, but Vancouver also has a game in hand.
