Police on an unrelated call made a gruesome discovery in the middle of a Calgary street — the body of a slain city man, a murder trial heard Tuesday.

Crown prosecutor Tiffany Dwyer, reading from a statement of agreed facts in the trial of Eddy Nakasenh-Bandasak, said two officers were flagged down by witness Brenden Edmand while on their way to a call in the southeast community of Lynnview.

“They observed a male, now known to be Brenden Edmand, on the phone and waving to get their attention,” Dwyer said, reading from the exhibit signed by Nakasenh-Bandasak and his lawyer, Mary Stephensen.

“Mr. Edmand was standing in the road in front of 135 Lynnview Rd. S.E. When the officers approached the scene (one) observed … a body in the road with a large pool of blood congealed underneath, face down, and facing southbound,” Dwyer said.

The second officer, who was the passenger in the police vehicle, “observed Mr. Edmand frantically waving and behind him observed a body face down on the ground.”

That officer noted “a large pool of blood around the top of the male. He put gloves on and checked for a pulse around the neck,” Dwyer said.

“He could not find a pulse and the male was not breathing. A few seconds later fire trucks arrived on scene, and then EMS. He observed the medic pronounce the male deceased.”
