The shooting victim was later identified as 29-year-old Liban Abdirahman.

Police now say they’re asking for the public’s help to identify the person investigators believe is responsible for Abdirahman’s death.

The suspect is described as a man in his 20s, about six feet tall with a slim build. He was seen wearing blue shoes, camouflage jeans and a long, green winter coat at the time of the shooting, and was also seen driving a grey 2016 to 2018 Ford Focus hatchback.

The man is believed to have ties to the Edmonton region, police said in written statement released Monday.

“We are asking anyone who believes they have information that will help us identify this individual to come forward,” says acting Staff Sgt. John Pearson in the police statement. “One man lost his life, and the person responsible needs to be held accountable.”

Anyone who can shed light on the suspect’s identity is asked to call the Calgary police non-emergency line at 403-266-1234. Anonymous tips are accepted through Calgary Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, on the organization’s website, or by using the P3 Tips mobile app.
