Boil water orders are in place for residents in areas of Rocky View County after recent tests uncovered “urgent” safety concerns with drinking supply distribution.
Advisories issued Friday by Alberta Health Services state tests conducted April 16 found the drinking water supply “did not provide an adequate minimum free chlorine disinfection residual.”

The orders also state the water treatment plant operator was not available to address “urgent deficient operational conditions.”
The affected areas are supplied by the Salt Box Coulee Waterworks System and others that draw from it, including Calling Horse Estates, Windmill Water Coop Waterworks and Deer Springs.
Residents and businesses served by those systems should bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before consumption or uses such as brushing teeth or rinsing food.
Corrective action is taking place to address this matter and restore appropriate water supply,” AHS stated in a release. “The advisory will remain in place until such time that water is restored and water quality assured.”
The orders require operators of the water supply systems to repair the chlorine delivery treatment and ensure any potentially contaminated water is flushed out.
