The funds are earmarked for a variety of projects including $125,000 for restoration work at the historic John R. Park Homestead and $125,000 for tree planting and habitat restoration.

Amherstburg’s Collavino Conservation Area will benefit from $95,000 for the development of public access and recreation, $50,000 will support outdoor education and $26,000 will go toward work on a new entrance to the Cypher Systems Greenway in Amherstburg.

And finally, the Devonwood Conservation Area will see a $20,000 refresh of its entrance.

“On behalf of the ERCA board of directors and all of the regional residents who will benefit from the conservation impact of these generous donations, we are so grateful,” said Jim Morrison, chairman.

“The changes to Conservation Authority Act make the work of the foundation more important than ever in ensuring we can continue to work together to achieve a state of environmental sustainability for the Windsor-Essex-Pelee Island region.”

The Essex Region Conservation Foundation was established in 1977 to receive and maintain funds for charitable, educational, conservation and heritage purposes related directly or indirectly to the conservation, restoration, development and management of natural and heritage resources in the Essex Region.
