Rob Williams CFP®, RICP®, CPWA® is managing director of financial planning at Charles Schwab. In this role, he leads a team to progress research, insights, methodology, and training for Schwab clients, representatives, and advisors focusing on financial planning and wealth management across an investor’s life cycle, including saving for, preserving, and distributing assets in retirement.

Williams publishes commentary regularly on Schwab.com/insights, Schwab’s On Investing Magazine, and provides insights on investing, planning, and retirement in financial media.

Prior to joining Schwab, Williams was a director at Standard & Poor’s in the credit market services Public Finance division in San Francisco, where he served as guide analyst in state and local municipal bond markets, with a focus on a variety of municipal debt issues.

Williams holds a Master of Business Administration degree from University of California Berkeley, Haas School of Business, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University. He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) professional and holds the Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP) and Certified Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA) designations.
