On Wednesday Ukraine has claimed responsibility for assassinating the Kremlin backed law maker who was killed in a “car bomb attack.”
Mikhail Filiponenko was killed in eastern Ukraine and was the deputy in the pro-Moscow Luhansk regional parliament.
On Wednesday morning Filiponenko was blown up when an “unidentified explosive device” was detonated under his car, Russian investigators claim.

Ukrainian military intelligence said they carried out a “special operation to eliminate” Filiponenko and they worked “jointly with representatives of the resistance movement.”
Filiponenko was an active member of the Luhansk “people’s militia” since 2014 which is a Russian backed separatist movement.
“As a result of the morning explosion, Filiponenko died on the spot,” the Ukrainian military intelligence agency said on Telegram.
Leonid Pasechnik who is the Russian installed head of Luhansk said that Filiponenko was a “real man” and said that his death is “heavy loss.”
Ukrainian intelligence said that he had “personally and brutally tortured” prisoners of war and civilians.
