The Ukrainian Ministry of Defence has said that Sweden and the UK are to join the newly formed coalition of drones.
The UK are to become the co-leader alongside with Latvia which will see technology fighting people instead of thousands more troops.
The coalition of electronic warfare and drones was created initially by Ukraine then Latvia, this decision was made whilst the Latvian Defense Minister Andris Sprūds visited Kyiv.
The Ministry said on Telegram, “In particular, Swedish Defense Minister Paul Johnson announced this decision during a meeting of Ukraine Defense Contact Group on January 23.
“Great Britain also announced its intention to join the coalition – and become its co-leader together with Latvia.”
Deputy Minister of Defense for Digital Development, Digital Transformations and Digitalization Kateryna Chernorenko said, “technology should fight, not people.”
He added, “The drone coalition will be another step towards realising this idea. This will save many lives.
“Strengthening and developing the production of unmanned systems will allow us to transform the army and make the latest technologies a today’s reality.”
The Minister of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin announced the serial production in Ukraine of analogues of the Shahed-131 and Shahed-136 kamikaze drones.
He said, “When we talk about what is called Ukrainian ‘Shahed.’ We have more than five mass-produced analogues of Shahed-131.
“And there is one type that is analogous to Shahed-136. In this regard, you can choose any of the positions, all this is mass production.”
