was the fifth-best Dow performer, as it rose 1.6% to bounce off an 11-month low after beating earnings expectations. The combined price gain of the earnings reporter’s stocks ($9.04) was adding about 60 points to the Dow’s price, while the Dow rose 117 points, or 0.4%. Meanwhile, the two Dow members that were slated to report results after the closing bell were mixed, as shares of Microsoft Corp.
MSFT,
slipped 0.1% and Visa Inc.’s stock
V,
gained 1.0%. Combined, the price moves of those stocks added 12 points to the Dow’s price.
