The Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has arrived in Kyiv and has met with President Volodymyr Zelensky and has pledged the UK will provide a multi-billion military aid packaged to Ukraine.
Sunak has told Kyiv that the UK will continue to back Ukraine and we will “not falter” and will stand with Kyiv in their “darkest hours.”
This comes hours after the British RAF and Royal Navy have carried out targeted airstrikes against Iranian backed Houthis militants in Yemen in response to the Red Sea attacks, which threatens a wide-scale war in the Middle East involving Britain.

The Prime Minister said, “For two years, Ukraine has fought with great courage to repel a brutal Russian invasion.
“They are still fighting, unfaltering in their determination to defend their country and defend the principles of freedom and democracy.
“I am here today with one message: the UK will also not falter. We will stand with Ukraine, in their darkest hours and in the better times to come.”
Downing Street said that the military air package will involve long-range missiles, artillery ammunition, maritime security and air defence totalling £2.5 billion.
Almost £200 million will also be spent to produce and procure military drones, this will be the largest package of drones given to Ukraine.
Sunak said the UK recognises that Ukrainian “security is our security,” adding, “Today we are going further – increasing our military aid, delivering thousands of cutting-edge drones, and signing a historic new Security Agreement to provide Ukraine with the assurances it needs for the long term.”
Labour’s Shadow Defence Secretary John Healey said they back the government’s “vital support” for Ukraine.
“The UK is united in support of Ukraine and against Russian aggression.
“Labour fully backs this new military funding for Ukraine – and has been pushing ministers since the autumn to confirm 2024 military funding,” he added.
