Russia are using new drones fitted with “night vision cameras” which have been used to target civilians in Ukraine.
According to reports, the FPV drones attacked residential buildings on Tuesday in Nikopol in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Yevhen Yevtushenko, the head of the district military administration, said these drones have been used before against Ukrainian forces, but this is the first time they have been used against civilians.

He said, “The evening UAV attack reveals that the Russians are using new drones with night vision cameras.
“Such drones have been used on the front for a long time, but this is the first instance in our region.”
Serhiy Lysak, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration, said that in Nikopol, shelling had damaged two private house and a power line, the Kyiv Post reported.
The commander of the attack UAV unit, referred to as Nazar for security reasons, told the Kyiv Post these drones are a challenge for his troops.
Nazar told the Kyiv Post in an interview, “If an FPV with a thermal camera flies out at you, your chances are very slim.
“Silhouettes, people, and entrances to bunkers are much more visible at night. What can be disguised during the day is unmasked by heat at night.”
