In “The mysterious rise of the pomegranate” (FT Magazine, December 30) Joel Hart used the word “seed” for the juice-filled pulps rather than the correct word “aril” — particularly handy in Scrabble and deriving from the Latin arillus and Spanish arillos (dried grapes, raisins).
