Lilah Raptopoulos (“Being bored is a good thing”, Opinion, Life & Arts, December 23) and Hilda Burke (Letters, December 30) raise the spectre of boredom. But isn’t that all it is — an imagined ghost? I don’t believe I’ve ever been bored in my 83 years, and I’m sure I’m not alone. After all, the word itself didn’t even exist before the start of the 19th century — or is that a boring detail?
