Nikki Haley is wise to remain in the race (“A woman resolved to keep taking on Trump”, Person in the News, FT Weekend, January 27). Donald Trump’s legal, medical and cognitive status are not likely to improve in the coming months. If he reaches a point where few independent voters would be willing to vote for him, diehard Republicans may realise it’s more important to win the presidency than take a stand for the past.
