Northern Gaza is the scene of “heavy fighting” between Hamas and Israeli forces with “machine guns and anti-tank weapons.”

The Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades said that two Israeli tanks caught fire after being hit with anti-tank weapons, this has not been confirmed by the Israeli military.

On Sunday evening Israeli forces are hammering Gaza with artillery, shelling and airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.

“Our fighters are currently engaged in heavy fighting with machine-guns and anti-tank weapons with the invading occupation (Israeli) forces in northwest Gaza,” the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades said in a statement.

The Israeli army said near to the Erez border crossing their troops have “identified a number of terrorists exiting the shaft of a tunnel” then “confronted the terrorists, killing and injuring them.”

The Israeli Defence Force said in a statement, they “identified a number of terrorists exiting the shaft of a tunnel in the Gaza Strip.

“Following the identification, the soldiers confronted the terrorists, killing and injuring them.

Additionally, aircraft guided by IDF troops struck two staging grounds of the Hamas terrorist organization and killed several terrorists.

In the vicinity of the Al-Quds hospital where around 12,000 people are sheltering, Israeli airstrikes took place.

Al Arabiya’s correspondent said that the Al-Quds hospital in Gaza was targeted in Israeli airstrikes on Sunday.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said on Sunday there “has been raids 50 meters away from the hospital.”

An Israeli military spokesman declined to comment during a briefing when asked about the PRC’s statement.

The hospital was warned on Sunday morning by the Israeli military to evacuate patients and all staff immediately as they were threatened with a “bombardment.”

The hospital’s director, Bashar Murad told Palestinian state-news agency (WAFA) that they have refused to obey the order as some patients are too fragile to be moved.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society has said Israeli military informed them the Al-Quds hospital is going to be “bombarded.”

They added, “PRCS has just received serious threats from the occupation authorities to immediately evacuate al Quds Hospital in the Gaza Strip, as it is going to be bombarded.”

Warplanes are bombing roads to the al-Quds hospital and to the as Shifa medical facility which is packed with thousands of patients, and they have nowhere to go.

The director-general of the World Health Organization has said that the reports coming out of Gaza of the “evacuation threats” at al Quds Hospital are “deeply concerning.”

The WHO director general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a message to the Israeli authorities, “We reiterate – it’s impossible to evacuate hospitals full of patients without endangering their lives.

“Under international humanitarian law, healthcare must always be protected.”
