I write regarding the ongoing trial of Sam Bankman-Fried over the collapse of FTX and the allegations of money being diverted into Alameda Research (Opinion, October 7). Your readers may be interested to check out Anthony Trollope’s classic novel of financial fraud in the 1870s, The Way We Live Now, or watch the wonderful BBC adaptation with David Suchet as Augustus Melmotte.
The similarities are striking. History seems to repeat itself only too frequently.
