Over the past two months motorists have been hit with ‘significant’ fuel increases, according to the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).
By the end of October, the CMA found the difference between pump prices and wholesale costs were “significantly above the long-term average” for drivers.
The RAC said that the findings are “very disappointing” which demonstrated “drivers are still being taken advantage of at the pumps.”
The CMA said, “If retail spreads were to retain at these levels for much longer, this would cause concern about the intensity of retail competition in the sector.”
