Isaac Levido’s choice of sporting obsession is ironic (“Tories pin their hopes on Levido to engineer fifth election victory”, Report, January 13).
Belgian cyclist Wout van Aert is certainly a charismatic superstar. He’s versatile, powerful and has won major races. But the sad truth is that over the past decade or so he has been losing more often than not to his Dutch nemesis Mathieu van der Poel.
Most notably MvdP, as he’s known, won the road cycling world championships in Glasgow in August with a solo attack of panache and risk that left van Aert and others trailing. (MvdP even had time to crash and remount before winning.)
I’m looking forward to seeing Levido’s satisfaction when he secures second place at the general election.
