The government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme that was launched in December has jumped by 49% compared to the same period last year.
More and more households are taking advantage of the scheme which is helping people to switch from fossil fuel heating to a cleaner pump alternative.
Energy Security Secretary, Claire Coutinho, said, “We recently made our Boiler Upgrade Scheme one of the most generous schemes in Europe. Applications are now up by nearly 50% compared to last year.
“Helping people, rather than forcing them, to make the right choices for their homes will always be my priority.”
The figures show that heat pump sales are continuing to skyrocket, in October the government increased the value of the BUS grant to £7,500 from £5,000, helping to decarbonise British homes and reduce the nations dependence on imported gas.
Daniel Särefjord, Aira UK CEO said in a statement, “The government’s £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme is helping to create a vibrant heat pump market in the UK.
“The latest figures show that thousands of British families are choosing to take their homes off gas, helping them to reduce their energy bills by 25% and cut their households carbon emissions by at least 75%.
“Despite this positive progression with heat pump installations, Britons still spend nearly £20 billion per year on gas imports. By installing more heat pumps, the country will become more energy secure and climate friendly whilst bringing bills down.
“Aira’s £300 million investment in the UK will help to create 8,000 new clean energy jobs over the next decade, so we can help more people install heat pumps in their homes.
“With our hassle-free, no upfront cost offer and low monthly payment plan, families will be able to benefit from a heat pump with energy bill savings from day one. We hope this offer will help Britons catch-up with Scandinavia, where heat pumps have been powering the majority of Scandi homes for decades.”
