Russian nuclear forces are on a “high state of readiness” in a “meteorite” threat to the West which comes after a “Yars intercontinental ballistic missile” has been loaded “into a silo launcher.”

The nuclear capable nuclear missile is located at the Kozelsk base in the Kaluga region, southwest of Moscow, the Russian Defence Ministry said on Sunday.

“In the Kozelsky compound, Strategic Missile Forces loaded a Yars intercontinental ballistic missile into a silo launcher,” the Defence Ministry said.

The RS-24 Yars missile can carry multiple nuclear warheads using targetable re-entry vehicles (MIRVs) can deliver multiple warheads to different targets anywhere in the world within 30 minutes.

Vladimir Putin has sent 1,000nucler strategic missile forces on a major exercise in the Ivanovo region, they have also been armed with the nuclear-capable hypersonic missile system Avangard.

Putin has dubbed that Avangard as “the meteorite” and Colonel-General Sergey Karakayev, Russia’s commander of strategic forces, has said his nuclear forces are in a state of “high readiness to perform tasks.”

Karakayev said, “Continuous combat duty in special mode has been organised.”

Karakayev added, “The current state of the Strategic Missile Forces is characterised by high readiness to perform tasks..

“The capabilities of weapons, military and special equipment are increasing.

“The troop and weapon control system consistently demonstrates its reliability. Continuous combat duty in special mode has been organised.”

Karakayev said, “In 2023, about 80 new main types weapons and military equipment were delivered to the Strategic Missile Forces as part of the government’s defence contracts.

“This made it possible to complete an upgrade of three missile regiments with Yars and Avangard missile systems.

“This means the proportion of the latest missile systems in the Strategic Missile Forces battlegroup has reached 88 percent. Seven launches are planned for 2024.”
