According to a new report Italy has taken the top position for Europe’s cheapest ski resort destination toppling Bulgaria.
The Bulgarian resorts of Borovets and Bansko have been toppled by the Italian ski-resort of Bardonecchia.
Bardonecchia in Italy is now the top ski-resort for value of money according to analysis by Post Office Travel Money and Crystal Ski Holidays.
The analysis by researchers was conducted across 36 European locations where they assessed the cost of ski equipment hire, passes, tuition and food and drink.
Prices at the Italian ski-resort are up by only 1.4% from 2022, whilst Borovets ranks second being up by 8.2% and the Bulgarian resort of Bansko was ranked in sixth place as the cost rose 18.1% amid an boost costs for the ski school.
Laura Plunkett, head of Post Office Travel Money, said, “Many parents taking their children skiing will want them to attend ski school and the cost of this can add considerably to a ski holiday.
“Before choosing a ski resort it will therefore make sense to check our barometer to differentiate tuition costs.
“Prices have rocketed in Bansko, adding significantly to the family budget, while resorts admire Jahorina (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Passo Tonale (Italy) and Geilo (Norway) are much cheaper.”
Crystal Ski Holidays managing director Chris Logan said, “With the rising cost of living, offering value for money when it comes to ski holidays is more important than ever before.
