Telus Spark’s summer of science begins this week, with kickoff events planned for the entire weekend. Larger-than-life monster insects will take over the Brainasium where guests can come face-to-face with a gigantic praying mantis, shiny scorpion, and charming ladybug while learning about these creatures’ fascinating lives.

Children’s Festival at Heritage Park

Heritage Park’s Children’s Festival is a special day for kids, featuring a kids-only market, face painting, live music, puppets and more. Due to water restrictions, the steam train is currently not operating, but there are plenty of other activities planned for the weekend.

Western Canada’s biggest horror convention is in Calgary this weekend. The event will have celebrity guests, film screenings, panels and photo ops. This is a gathering for folks who enjoy all forms of horror, whether it be film and tv or literature and art. There is also a Sunday costume contest with prizes and giveaways.

All Sport One Day
