As a man and woman walked on the road, the SUV was heading north on 120 Street from 113 Avenue. Police said the driver didn’t observe the pedestrians and the SUV struck them.

The 47-year-old man suffered significant injuries and died on scene. The 30-year-old woman left the scene and was found at a nearby coffee shop, police said, adding she had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.

Police said neither drugs nor alcohol contributed to the collision. EPS’ major collision section has taken over the investigation.

124 Street and 112 Avenue collision

On Monday at around 9:30 a.m., a man was crossing 124 Street at 112 Avenue when a southbound vehicle struck him, police said.

An EPS officer came across the collision and emergency crews arrived. The 58-year-old victim was transported to hospital where he later died.

The 74-year-old man driving the vehicle remained on scene. Neither impairment nor speed are suspected to be factors in the collision, but charges are pending against the driver.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed either collision or has dash camera footage to contact them at 780-423-4567.
