Kyiv/Washington/Berlin (dpa) – The USA is to provide Ukraine with further military support to repel the Russian war of aggression, announced the US Department of State on Friday. Germany has supplied the country under attack with another Iris-T air defence system, which arrived in Ukraine on Friday, Germany’s Defence Ministry wrote on the platform X. Defence Minister Boris Pistorius (SPD) explained that this was an IRIS-T SLM and IRIS-T SLS combined fire unit – “a highly modern and well-proven medium- and short-range air defence system, directly from German industry production”. Germany has already supplied Kyiv with several air defence systems, including IRIS-T and Patriot units.
Russia’s President Putin has once again stressed his alleged willingness to engage in negotiations – though not to return occupied and unlawfully annexed territories.
