Berlin/Dresden (dpa) – French President Emmanuel Macron continues his state visit to Germany with a one-day trip to Saxony. After laying a wreath at the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, Macron and his wife Brigitte travelled to Saxony accompanied by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbender. In front of the Frauenkirche in Dresden, he will be addressing a speech to thousands of young people from Saxony, Poland, the Czech Republic and France.  

At the start of the visit on Sunday, Macron and Steinmeier stressed the particular importance of Franco-German relations. Macron concludes his state visit on Tuesday in Münster, where he will be awarded the International Peace of Westphalia Prize.
