Multiple businesses in Mill Woods have suffered damages after a fire broke out Monday morning.

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) told CityNews in a statement that fire crews responded to structure fire on Knottwood Road at 2:40 a.m.

Firefighters reportedly arrived at the scene within four minutes of the call and noticed heavy smoke coming from the back of a single business within the strip mall.

A second-alarm was called, increasing the number of firefighters to around 40.

EFRS says the fire was brought under control just before 3:30 a.m., and was finally declared out at 5:03 a.m.

No injuries were reported and an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

At least three businesses appear to have been damaged, including Hamud Halal Meat and Grocery, Blasters Ice Creams and Cakes, and Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy #384.
