“Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. High winds may result in power outages and fallen tree branches,” Environment Canada stated.

The cities expected to be impacted the most are Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, New Westminster and Delta.

As of 10:45 p.m., there were 16,057 customers without power in the Lower Mainland, related to 30 outages. On Vancouver Island, which was also hit with the winds, there were just under 8,000 residences without power from 15 outages.

The strong wind event is expected to be passed by Wednesday morning.
