Saskatoon police received several calls around 11 a.m. on Sunday from people in the Riversdale area, near Avenue K and 21st Street West.
“They reported that a man was approaching people for money while brandishing a machete,” police said in a news release on Tuesday.

An officer who responded to the calls saw a man who matched the description given to police, walking along the 200 block of Avenue J South with a woman. Seeing the officer, the man fled on foot, the release noted.
