The Generals move on to face Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan and the Western Conference-champion London Knights in the OHL final. The winner moves on to join the host Saginaw Spirit in the Memorial Cup tournament.

The Generals last won an OHL title and Memorial Cup in 2014-15, when they were led behind the bench by former Maple Leafs assistant coach D.J. Smith and on the ice by New York Islanders first-rounder Michael Dal Colle.

The Knights pulled off the J. Ross Robertson-Memorial Cup double-double the following season with a stacked team that included future NHL stars like the Maple Leafs’ Mitch Marner, Florida Panthers’ Matthew Tkachuk, St. Louis Blues’ Robert Thomas and Edmonton Oilers’ Evan Bouchard.
