Investigators believe human remains found this week northeast of Moose Jaw have been at that location for at least a decade.

Moose Jaw RCMP received a report Tuesday around 2:20 p.m. about remains in a rural area. According to police in a news release, at this time “investigators do not believe the death was suspicious in nature.”

The remains were examined by a forensic anthropologist and pathologist.

The person was not immediately identified.According to RCMP, members of the Moose Jaw detachment and the historical case unit will continue searches in the rural area. The investigation “will consider historical missing persons in the area,” RCMP added.

The investigation is ongoing, police said, adding that residents may notice an increased police presence in nearby areas.
