The Calgary Wranglers are the underdogs in this best-of-three playoff series.

They do, however, have a Wolf … and he was the difference in Game 1.

Flames goaltender-of-the-future Dustin Wolf delivered a 46-save shutout as the Wranglers opened their Calder Cup quest with Wednesday’s 2-0 victory over the host Tucson Roadrunners in AHL post-season action.

Game 2, a could-be clincher for Wolf & Co., is slated for Friday at 8 p.m. MT.

Cole Schwindt scored a second-period goal for the Baby Flames in the series-opener, while Matt Coronato sealed the result with a late empty-netter.

The 23-year-old Wolf made seven saves on Josh Doan, and seven more on Dylan Guenther. Both dudes finished the season in the NHL, just like he did.

The Wranglers placed seventh in the AHL’s Pacific Division standings at 35-28-9, while the Roadrunners — the top affiliate for the on-the-move Arizona Coyotes — were second at 43-23-6.
