Jurassic Quest

North America’s largest and most realistic dinosaur exhibit is in Calgary this weekend. The three-day event features life-size dinosaurs, fossil digs and bouncy houses. The activities are designed to be informational and educational, with different options for kids of all ages.

When: Friday 12-8 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Supertrain is Canada’s largest model train show, and it is in Calgary this weekend. There will be Lego models and Lionel trains on display, as well as ride-on trains and a play area. For those curious about building model trains, there will be demonstrations and advice on how to get started.

Engine 23 opening party

Saturday is the Engine 23 opening party at the newly renovated Fish Creek Library. Visitors can view the decommissioned fire truck, as well as take part in face painting, live music and family story time.

Outdoor scavenger hunt

Fort Calgary is hosting an outdoor scavenger hunt that will put your local history knowledge to the test. Teams are made up of three to five players, and there are prizes for the winners.

Cost: $25 per team (ages 13 and up)

Calgary PetFest

Calgary PetFest at Spruce Meadows is a weekend event showcasing active dogs, demonstrations, speakers, vendors and more. Some of the notable demonstrations will be sheep herding, police dogs and corgi races.
