Roadwork contractors advise drivers to steer clear of the 112th Street overpass above Highway 99 in Delta from Friday, April 19, to the end of May.
Crews from Mainroad Contracting will be repairing the overpass. The work is needed after an overheight truck load hit the span on Dec. 28, 2023.

A detour will be in place on 112th Street, including diverting traffic onto Ladner Trunk Road, until the work is completed.

Traffic on Highway 99 will also be reduced to one lane in each direction from the beginning of the work on April 19 until Sunday, April 21, at 5 p.m.

Paving season begins
Mainroad is also asking drivers to watch for road crews and obey construction-zone speed limits as paving season gets underway.
Paving began on Monday and will continue throughout the spring. The schedule for paving, which will be done from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on weeknights, is as follows:
April 15: Highway 99, southbound bus lane, from Westminster Highway (one kilometre). Bus lane and one other southbound lane closed, one lane open.
April 16: Highway 99 northbound, one lane, from Steveston (500 metres). Northbound bus lane and one lane closed, one lane open.
April 17: Highway 91 eastbound, two lanes to Highway 91A off-ramp. Eastbound off-ramp to Highway 91A and Clivedon Avenue closed, detour to Nordel Way and back to Highway 91 northbound at Clivedon and Highway 91A.

April 18: Highway 91 eastbound, one lane closed to east of Westminster Highway.
April 19: Highway 91 westbound, one lane closed to end of Nelson on-ramp.
Drivers should consider using an alternate route during the paving.
