Members of the Ontario Nurses’ Association who work at long-term care homes held information pickets at 37 locations across Ontario — including Extendicare Southwood Lakes in Windsor — on Friday.
The association representing 3,000 nurses, personal support workers and guest attendants is outlining its bargaining position heading into negotiations with employers this week.

ONA members head into talks with “companies that have reported record profits in recent years on the backs of staff and vulnerable residents,” ONA said in a release.
Members are looking for better staffing ratios and equal wages with hospitals in order to retain experienced staff in the long-term care sector, the release said.
