Regina transit stops are temporarily moving off 11th Avenue as the city begins its second year of a revitalization project to upgrade roads, sidewalks, lighting and underground infrastructure.

“As part of the 2024 construction, all bus stops on 11th Avenue between Albert Street and Broad Street are temporarily moving to Victoria Avenue, Lorne Street, 12th Avenue and Albert Street,” the city said in a news release Friday.

“The temporary stops, which take effect on April 14, are divided between five locations,” details of which can be found at regina.ca/11thavenue. Transit users are encouraged to check TransitLive.com for up-to-date information on routes, stops and times.

SaskPower and SaskTel will lead most of the construction in 2024 by upgrading aging underground infrastructure along the street, between the alley west of Hamilton Street and the alley went of Lorne Street, according to the release.

The four-year construction project began last May. It aims to revitalize 11th Avenue from Broad to Albert Street, including upgrades to the roadway, streetscape, sidewalks and underground infrastructure, as well as new lighting, traffic signals, pedestrian improvements and new transit shelters.

Work will take place in phases from May to October each year until 2026, starting at Broad Street and moving west approximately two blocks at a time.
