Berlin (d.de) – This Saturday Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz is meeting the Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu for talks in Bucharest. Issues of European, security and economic policy are at the top of the agenda. The Federal Chancellor will join business representatives at a round table discussion.
Germany is Romania’s most important trade partner and largest foreign direct investor, and is considered the country’s most important foreign policy partner alongside the USA. The countries also share many ties against the background of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Romania is providing wide-ranging support to Ukraine and Moldova, and is also strengthening NATO’s south-eastern flank.
