A popular place for students of any age these days in Saskatoon is Rollerama, located at the World of Golf on 8th Street. The indoor arena, which accommodates up to 300 people, tempts many youngsters inside to the fun and difficulties of manoeuvring a pair of roller skates. ...

For the young hockey fans, the Saskatoon Hockey Association held its annual “spring break” hockey tournament for the Wee Pee division. The tournament, which ended the hockey season, involved seven local all-star teams and seven visiting teams.

“We do not have the ice facilities all year to accommodate a tournament, as there are too many other youngsters who are just as deserving of the ice time. This tournament involves 126 local kids, as well as that many visiting hockey players,” said Art Guse, secretary-manager of the Saskatoon Hockey Association.

With temperatures climbing, rinks are closing and outdoor winter activities are slowly coming to a halt, many youngsters have made extensive use of the YWCA and YMCA facilities.

Heather Graham, assistant program director at the YWCA, said: “our regular winter program ended last week, leaving the ‘spring break’ week open, before our spring program begins next week.”
