The Easter weekend was hopping at The Log Farm in Nepean this weekend, with the Easter Bunny among the hundreds of guests dropping in on the family-friendly festivities for the farm’s annual egg hunt.
The event has been sold out weeks in advance, according to Log Farm owner Larry Orr, after reaching the maximum capacity of 750 tickets sold for each day of the three-day event.

“A lot of families are coming out to meet the Easter Bunny, we have all kinds of farm animals around that the kids can see, and the house on the farm is from the 1860s and we have a guide in there telling everybody how the pioneers would have lived,” Orr said.
“And at this time of year we still have our sugarbush running, so we have wagon rides that bring everybody out to the sugarbush to learn how maple syrup is made.”
The Log Farm traditionally opens for the maple syrup season, with the Easter weekend a marquee event on their calendar.
“We follow what life would have been like on the family farm in the 1860s,” Orr said. “We try to let people see that, and we really have the farm set up for families with kids under 10. We have picnic and play areas and each week we do a different theme for the kids.”
This is the sixth year the farm at 670 Cedarview Rd. has been hosting an Easter event, which was revived last year after some “hiccups” during the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown.
The first year they hosted an Easter event, more than 1,500 people showed up on the first day, Orr said, prompting organizers to set a capacity limit of 750 per day in recent years.
“That first year we just opened up the gates and the response was a little overwhelming, to say the least,” Orr said. “Little kids don’t like standing in line … and neither do the big kids!”
The farm is open from the May long weekend through to October, when it shifts its focus to pumpkins and Halloween events.
“The community has been very good to us, they enjoy what we’re doing and we appreciate that,” Orr said.
