Students at FJ Brennan Catholic High School took part in Caratis Day activities on Thursday to learn first-hand the importance of community service and helping others.

The annual event is a “central part of the Brennan experience,” the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board said in a release.

Students helped to assemble lunches for the Downtown Mission, they made Easter cards for pediatric and palliative patients with Transition to Betterness and they collected and sorted neighbourhood food donations.

They also took part in visits to seniors’ homes, served food at community kitchens, and participated in classroom activities to support the Windsor/Essex County Humane Society, New Beginnings, the Youth Wellness Hub, the Salvation Army and the Alzheimer Society of Windsor-Essex County.
