A 75-year-old man was seriously injured after being hit by a truck in the Mercier—Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough Wednesday evening.

The collision occurred around 5 p.m., when the truck travelling south on Langelier Blvd. made a left turn, east, onto Sherbrooke St., in front of the Langelier métro station.

“It was at this moment that there would have been an impact with the pedestrian who was crossing Sherbrooke St. towards the north,” explained Montreal police spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils.

When police arrived on scene, the pedestrian was unconscious on the ground. He was transported to a hospital.

The driver of the truck, a 30-year-old man, was treated for nervous shock, but was not taken to a hospital.

A team from the collision investigation section was sent to the scene to shed light on the circumstances of this event.
