A 45-year-old Bourget man and a 17-year-old male youth face a number of criminal charges in connection with the death of a 15-year-old girl in a single-vehicle crash in Bourget last summer.

Shortly before 6 p.m. on Aug. 26, Russell County OPP were called to a collision involving a “modified golf cart,” in Bourget.

A 15-year-old passenger was ejected from the vehicle and died from the injuries sustained from the collision.

“Following a lengthy investigation by detectives of the Russell County OPP Crime Unit, two individuals were arrested and charged with Criminal Code (CC) offences,” police said in a release Wednesday.

On March 18, the youth was charged with dangerous operation causing death and operation (of a vehicle) causing death.

The accused was not named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

On Tuesday, a 45-year-old man from Bourget was arrested and charged with “criminal negligence causing death.” The accused was not named.

The accused are to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.
